Forward 🇩🇪Max Penkin has signed a professional contract with Adler Mannheim 🇩🇪 in the DEL at just the age of 15!

Penkin, who is eligible for the 2027 NHL Draft, scored 64 (30+34) points in 52 games with Jungadler Mannheim U20 🇩🇪 in the DNL U20 this season.

He also scored 3 (2+1) points in 5 games with Germany 🇩🇪 at the U18 World Championship.

Goaltender 🇫🇷Antoine Keller has signed a one-year contract with the Hershey Bears 🇺🇸 in the AHL!

The 20-year-old recorded 7 wins and an 89.3 SV% in 16 games with Lausanne HC 🇨🇭 in the NL and CHL, while also having 0 wins and an 89.7 SV% in 4 games with France 🇫🇷 at the World Championship, this season.

Keller was drafted 206th overall by the Washington Capitals 🇺🇸 in 2023 and can become just the fifth French goaltender to play in the AHL.

The recently fired 🇷🇺Roman Rotenberg is already back in action — he had a call with general manager 🇷🇺Igor Varitsky to discuss the debts of HK Vityaz 🇷🇺 and wants to keep the club in the KHL.

It was previously reported that Vityaz is losing their main sponsor, Gazprom, and the team could cease operations. Their reported debts are 200 million rubles for players and also need 1.5 billion rubles to function next season.

Now, former SKA head coach Rotenberg wants to join Vityaz and looks to raise the needed money to keep the team alive.

Sturm, who coached Germany 🇩🇪 to a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics, will become the first German-born head coach in NHL history.

There will be no NHL return for goaltender 🇨🇦Zachary Fucale — he has signed a two-year contract with Dinamo Minsk 🇧🇾 in the KHL!

The 30-year-old had 40 wins and a 92.0 SV% in 70 games with Traktor Chelyabinsk 🇷🇺 in the KHL this past season.

Fucale will be the highest paid goaltender in the league, being able to earn up to ₽80M ($1.0M USD) a season with bonuses.

Goaltender 🇱🇹Faustas Nausėda has signed a one-year (+1) contract with Tampereen Tappara 🇫🇮 in Liiga. He will play for Pyry Hockey 🇫🇮 on loan in Mestis.

The 24-year-old had 12 wins and a 92.6 SV% in 29 games with KeuPa HT 🇫🇮 in Mestis last season.

Nausėda helped Lithuania 🇱🇹 win silver medals at the 2019 U18 World Championship D2A and the 2024 World Championship D1B.

President Luc Tardif and other IIHF officials recently spoke to the media following the Men’s World Championship.

Questions about the 2026 Olympics and the NHL’s proposed 2028 World Cup were at the forefront:

“It took us two years of meetings to get NHL players to come to the Olympics again,” Tardif began, “but all that hard work has been worth it, and we have sorted that out, which is great for the game and for the fans. But to have a World Cup in February in Europe, three months before the World Championship, is a big problem for us,” he continued. “February is a vital time for selling tickets for the World Championship, and for fans to have an alternative tournament means the NHL’s World Cup represents a significant competitor. We have a marketing partner for the World Championship, and our contract with them goes until 2034. We can’t possibly be involved in a tournament that competes directly with the World Championship. So, we proposed two alternatives. We said, okay, have the tournament in February, but only in North America, or, have the tournament in Europe, but in September. The NHL didn’t like either of those suggestions, so now we must try to find common ground with our marketing partners and with the NHL.”

To clarify, Tardif explained that “the IIHF is a non-profit organization, and our World Championship provides all the income for all our other events. We run more than 30 tournaments a year, all levels of play, as well as symposiums, clinics, and other programs to help grow the game. We have to protect that event, and we hope that the NHL comes to realize just how important that tournament is for developing the game worldwide. It’s a difficult negotiation.”

The 23-year-old had 2 wins and a 90.1 SV% in 7 games with Ryazan-VDV 🇷🇺 in the VHL, along with 2 wins and an 88.3 SV% in 9 games with Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 at the World Championship and Asian Games, this season.

Pavlenko, who won a Kazakh title with Nomad Astana 🇰🇿 in 2023, can become just the third Kazakh goaltender to ever play in the AHL.
