I am sorry to hear about the passing of Patrekur Freyr Sveinsson at the age of just 17, following a tragic car accident on Thursday ❤️🇮🇸
Sveinsson had scored 6 goals and played 26 games for Skautafélag Reykjavíkur‘s U18 team since 2023. The club says that he had aspirations to one day make the national team.

Germany 🇩🇪 looked dominant in a 5-2 win over Japan 🇯🇵 and have their first 3 points at the 2026 Winter Olympics!
A strong showing from 🇩🇪Laura Kluge with 4 (1+3) points, followed by 🇩🇪Nicola Hadraschek-Eisenschmid with 3 (2+1) points, while 🇩🇪Sandra Abstreiter made 20 saves, gives the Germans their first win since 2014.

Thailand ice hockey is currently under political duress amidst an investigation from anti-corruption officials 😬🇹🇭
According to a report from the Bangkok Post, officials from the Public Anti-Corruption Commission have inspected the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena after they claimed the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand showed claimed invoice amounts being higher during the 2025 SEA Games.
“The invoices in question were issued for the national association and were to be submitted to the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) for reimbursement. The rink alleged the documents contained information inconsistent with the facts. The association reportedly claimed average monthly ice‑rink rental fees of 700,000 baht, significantly higher than the actual usage cost of about 200,000 to 300,000 baht per month,” according to the PACC.
It has also been reported that the Ice Hockey Association did not pay previously agreed to stipends to their players. Former national player Chonlaphat Ingkharratphithakon, who last played for the national team in 2023, said he received only 5,000 baht after signing for a 28,000-baht allowance. Another player, Patrick Forstner, who played at the last SEA Games, has also said payments did not meet signed agreements. The federation claims those allowances also include travel costs.
