I am sorry to hear about the passing of 🏴🇺🇸Bradly Burden at the age of 22. He was killed in a single-car accident this earlier week. ❤️

After the bronze medal game loss, Slovak head coach Vladimír Országh was asked about the play of first line centre Adam Ružička. He responded by saying he “will never criticize” a player publicly.
Shortly after at the same press conference, Országh was asked why the team’s second highest scorer in Dalibor Dvorský was not paired alongside Juraj Slafkovský on the first line. Országh said that Dvorský’s “legs weren’t working in the bronze medal game” and that he was fatigued.
While it was a harmless criticism it also shows a double standard from the Slovak coach. The players made a joke of it when teammate Martin Pospíšil commented “it was good that your legs didn’t work” on Dvorský’s most recent Instagram post. The comment was liked by other prominent players such as Martin Fehérváry and Martin Chromiak, a notable cut from the Olympic squad.
Vladimír Országh, who recently signed a three-year contract, then came back to speak to the media days later to correct his statement, saying he was misunderstood and that “It was not a criticism of the player, but rather a statement that we simply ran out of juice.”

These past Olympics of course just capped off with a heartbreaking loss to the United States 🇺🇸 in the final, but it took nail-bitting victories over Czechia 🇨🇿 and Finland 🇫🇮 to even reach that point.
The one moment of glory for Canada came at the 4 Nations Face-Off, but even at that tournament the team only achieved one regulation win (5-3 vs 🇫🇮) in four games. It doesn’t really matter since they were the champions, but it does show how small the gap is at the men’s international level right now.
Interesting fact: Starting goaltender 🇨🇦Jordan Binnington is the only player on all four of these rosters.
